Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility has been an active reality for SOLCOM for many years.
By this we understand not only the financial support of associations or institutions
but also a genuine requirement to help those in need in an effective and sustainable
way.
To this end we place the emphasis of our social commitment on cooperation with the
aid organisation Plan International. Within this framework since 2002 we have sponsored
children in Nepal and financed their education, as well as supporting self-help
projects in e.g. agriculture, irrigation or basic sanitation.
Plan International
Plan International has been active, independently of religion and politics, as one
of the oldest child aid organisations in 48 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin
America. Within the context of developmental cooperation, Plan finances sustainable
and child-orientated self-help projects, mainly through sponsorship and by means
of individual donations and public funds. Girls are given particular assistance
in order that they receive the same opportunities as boys. From the 1.2 million
child sponsorships worldwide, Plan Deutschland maintains 290,000, reaching over
two million people in the areas covered by the programme.
The projects are planned and realised in accordance with the concept of child-orientated
community development, in consultation with the children, families and communities.
The aim is to provide a permanent improvement in living conditions. The German Central
Institute for Social Issues has awarded Plan International Deutschland e.V. the
DZI seal of approval, certifying the transparency and cost effectiveness of their
fundraising.
Over the years Plan International Deutsch e.V. has occupied an excellent position
among the ten finalists for the transparency prize of the auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers,
with its accounts judged as being especially informative and transparent.
Plan International is recognised by the UNO as a private and independent organisation.
