Aufgaben

As a Hardware Tester / PCB Test Engineer in the automotive sector, you will help ensure that electronic control units, printed circuit boards, and related interfaces meet defined hardware and system requirements. In this role, you will work at PCB level and contribute to structured hardware verification and validation activities throughout the development lifecycle. Your work will connect requirements, laboratory execution, objective evidence, and engineering decisions. You will review requirements in Polarion, assess whether they are clear and testable, derive repeatable test cases, prepare laboratory setups, execute tests, and document the results in a traceable manner. You will collaborate closely with Hardware Engineers and other technical stakeholders when investigating deviations, clarifying acceptance criteria, or repeating tests after corrections. The role requires a careful, methodical, and hands-on approach, as your test results will support product quality, technical decision-making, and compliance with defined development processes.

  • You will review assigned hardware and system requirements for testability, clarity, completeness, consistency, and clearly defined acceptance criteria.
  • You will use Polarion for requirements review, test-case creation, traceability, execution records, and test reporting.
  • You will create, maintain, and execute requirement-based hardware test cases for PCBs, electronic assemblies, and related interfaces.
  • You will define test preconditions, stimulation, measurements, expected results, tolerances, and pass/fail criteria.
  • You will prepare and configure test setups, fixtures, harnesses, instruments, and test software as required.
  • You will execute PCB-level tests safely and consistently using standard electronic laboratory equipment.
  • You will record measured values, pass/fail results, deviations, logs, screenshots, and equipment identification as objective evidence.
  • You will create problem reports for failed, blocked, or otherwise inconclusive tests.
  • You will support root-cause-oriented troubleshooting together with Hardware Engineers and relevant technical stakeholders.
  • You will perform re-tests after corrections or design changes when requested and update the associated records.
  • You will follow applicable configuration-control, documentation, traceability, and quality processes.

Main working location: To be confirmed.

Anforderungen

Must-haves

For this position, you should bring several years of practical experience in hardware verification and validation, ideally within automotive electronics or a comparable technically regulated environment. You should be comfortable moving between technical documentation and hands-on laboratory work: interpreting requirements and schematics, planning meaningful tests, operating measurement equipment, and documenting results in a way that can be reviewed and reproduced by others. A structured and quality-conscious mindset is essential because every test result must be supported by objective evidence and clear traceability. You should also be able to recognize unclear or incomplete requirements and discuss them constructively with engineers and other project participants. Experience with electronic control units, PCBs, interfaces, and systematic troubleshooting will help you contribute effectively from the beginning. Polarion experience is strongly preferred, although candidates with comparable requirements-management or test-management tool experience may also be considered if they can become proficient in Polarion after project onboarding.

  • You will bring approximately 3–5 years of experience in hardware verification and validation of electronic control units, PCBs, or comparable electronic products.
  • You will be able to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, component datasheets, interface specifications, and hardware test requirements.
  • You will be able to derive clear, repeatable, reviewable, and requirement-based test cases.
  • You will be experienced in defining preconditions, test steps, stimulation, measurements, expected results, tolerances, and pass/fail criteria.
  • You will have practical knowledge of safely using standard electronic laboratory equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, and related instruments.
  • You will be able to investigate deviations and support root-cause-oriented troubleshooting together with Hardware Engineers.
  • You will understand the importance of traceability, defect documentation, configuration control, and objective evidence.
  • You will have experience with Polarion or a comparable requirements, test-case, or lifecycle-management tool; Polarion experience is strongly preferred.
  • You will be able to work accurately, independently, and in a structured manner while also collaborating effectively in a technical team.
  • You will hold a degree, diploma, or comparable vocational qualification in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, embedded systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • You will communicate clearly in English when documenting test activities, reporting deviations, and discussing technical findings.
