Projektdetails
You will take the lead in shaping and evolving a high-performance IP/MPLS network that supports core, aggregation, edge, and BNG environments. In this role, you will work on the technical design of network architectures, contribute to migration planning, and help turn strategic ideas into robust, scalable solutions. You will also play a key role in defining new B2B and wholesale products from a network perspective, ensuring that technical concepts are aligned with operational reality and future growth. Beyond design work, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and vendors to improve standards, design guidelines, and architecture target states. A strong part of your work will focus on automating network operations and contributing to the expansion of the automation platform. This position offers you the opportunity to influence critical network decisions, improve efficiency, and help build a more standardized, resilient, and future-ready infrastructure.
- You will design IP/MPLS network areas including core, aggregation, edge, and BNG.
- You will create HLDs, LLDs, and migration concepts for network changes and expansions.
- You will technically plan and support network migrations in live production environments.
- You will contribute to the network-side design of new B2B and wholesale products.
- You will develop and improve standards, design guidelines, and architecture target pictures.
- You will help consolidate architectural decisions into a consistent overall network vision.
- You will advise on technical requirements and collaborate with vendors in the areas of configuration, automation, and inventory management.
- You will support the development of technical solutions that extend the automation platform.
Must-haves
You will be most successful in this role if you bring solid hands-on experience in carrier or ISP environments and feel confident working with complex IP/MPLS networks. You should have a deep understanding of routing and switching technologies, a structured approach to documentation, and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical, scalable designs. Because the role involves migrations, automation, and vendor coordination, you will need to combine strong engineering skills with analytical thinking and clear communication. We are looking for someone who can work independently, take ownership of technical topics, and contribute to long-term architectural decisions. Experience with broadband access aggregation, automation interfaces, and production network changes will help you make an immediate impact. If you also know optical transport environments and common network operations tools, that will be a strong advantage. For this role, 3-5 years of relevant experience is expected.
- You will bring extensive experience in a carrier or ISP environment with a focus on IP/MPLS.
- You will have deep knowledge of IS-IS/OSPF, BGP, MPLS, L2VPN/VPLS/EVPN, L3VPN, and QoS.
- You will have very good practical experience with Nokia SR OS and/or Cisco IOS-XR/XE as well as JUNOS.
- You will have experience with broadband access aggregation, including BNG, PPPoE/IPoE, RADIUS, DHCP-Relay/Option 82, and CGNAT.
- You will be able to create reliable design and operational documentation such as HLDs and LLDs.
- You will have experience with automation using Python, NETCONF/YANG, and gNMI, ideally with network automation platforms such as Nokia NSP.
- You will have experience in migration projects in live production networks, including risk and rollback planning.
- You will have a good understanding of interface topics related to optical transport, such as DWDM and multi-layer IP-to-optics views.
- You will ideally be familiar with tools such as FNT, phpIPAM, Grafana, and OTRS.
- You will ideally hold certifications such as CCNP/CCIE SP or Nokia NRS II/SRA.
Nice-to-haves
- Schnittstellenverständnis zur optischen Transportebene (DWDM, Multi-Layer-Sicht IP↔Optik)
- Tooling-Umfeld: FNT, phpIPAM, Grafana, OTRS
- Zertifizierungen: CCNP/CCIE SP, Nokia NRS II/SRA
